Places to visit in Kausani



Kausani also called as the Switzerland of India is a hill station situated in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It is a popular tourist destination for nature lovers, travelers and honeymooners. On reaching Kausani travelers can explore various tourist attractions.

Rudradhari Falls and Caves (4 km from the city center)


Rudradhari Falls and Caves
Rudradhari Falls and Caves are at a distance of around 12 km from Kausani and is a 2 km trek from Kantali village. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and explore the ancient caves. Visitors can also visit the shrine of Lord Shiva called Someshwar temple near the fall.




Baijnath Temple (7 km from the city center)



Baijnath Temple
Baijnath temple is situated in Baijnath town in Bageshwar next to river Gomti. The temples are dedicated to God and Goddess Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma. The temple was built during the Katyuri dynasty around 12th-13th  century AD. The temples are beautifully sculpted in Nagara style architecture.      



Kausani Tea Estate (is at the city center)




Kausani Tea Estate
Kausani Tea Estate is 5 km away from the main town. It is spread over 208 hectares and has 21 divisions. Visitors can take a tour of the estate gardens and the factory and learn about tea growing and manufacturing process. Tea lovers can also taste and purchase the best tea of the estate. Visitors are advised not to visit during November to March when the estate is closed.


Stargate Observatory (is at the city center)


Stargate Observatory
Stargate Observatory is situated at an elevation of around 1800 meters above the sea level. Visitors can engage in activities like moon watch, planet watch, galaxy watch, nebula watch, solar observation (daytime), stargazing and astrophotography. Visitors can also visit the astronomy and science museum. There is a stargate shop from where visitors can purchase various science and astronomy kit. There is also a restaurant and a cafĂ© in the observatory.      





Anashakti Ashram (is at the city center)



Anashakti Ashram
Anasakti Ashram is also called as Gandhi Ashram. Mahatma Gandhi visited this ashram and practiced Anasakti yoga. He liked this place so much that he called it Switzerland of India. The ashram has been converted into study and a research centre and a museum. The ashram has a accommodation facility with 24 rooms and a kitchen facility for visitors.





Sumitranandan Pant Museum (is at the city center)


Sumitranandan Pant Museum
Sumitranandan Pant a famous Hindi poet was born in Kausani. It is a museum dedicated to his works. Visitors can also find various other Hindi and English books by different authors. The museum stays open from 1030 am to 430 pm.

Visitors can visit and learn about the shawl making process and also purchase good quality handmade Kausani shawls.
