Sel Roti Recipe





Serves 4, Time Taken 1 hr

Ingredients

1 cup Rice
4 tablespoons Sugar
4 tablespoons Ghee
2 tablespoon Rice Flour
½ teaspoon Cardomom Powder (Elaichi)
4 tablespoons Water + Water for Soaking Rice
Refined Oil for deep frying

How to make Sel Roti

Step 1

Wash and soak the rice overnight. Drain the water from the rice and then grind the soaked rice into a paste.

Step 2

Take the rice paste in a bowl, add ghee, sugar, cardamom powder and rice flour to it. Add 4 tablespoon of water to it and mix well till the sugar dissolves. The batter should be of thick consistency.

Step 3

Heat the oil in a pan. Put enough quantity of oil for deep frying the batter. Using the ladle pour the batter in a hollow circle shape into the oil.

Step 4

Cook both sides of the batter till it turns into light golden brown color. Drain out the excess oil using absorbent paper and store in an airtight container.

The sweet dish can be served with Gorkhali Chutney or Bhutua or tea.
